25th February 2006, XinAoMDT hosted the first forum on Optical Imaging and Clinical Applications for Breast Cancer Diagnosis at the Headquarter of XinAo Group. The forum was participated by well-known scholars and doctors in this field. Experts from academic research groups (Singapore State University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University) and doctors from hospitals (Tianjin Cancer Hospital, Beijing 301 Hospital) had in-depth discussion on recent progress and clinical application issues in this field.
The forum was hosted by Dr. Wei-Ping Wang. Dr. Lei Zhao, vice president of XinAoMDT, gave a brief introduction of XinAoMDT. Prof. Yonghong Zhang of Tsinghua University gave a speech about the background, theoretical basis, and new developments of optical imaging in biomedical engineering. Prof. Nanguang Chen of Singapore State University presented the development of DOT and his latest research result. Dr. Tianbin Wan of XinAoMDT presented results of recent clinical trials with XinAoMDT’s Optimus Diffused Optical Imaging System with Ultrasound.
All participants actively joined the discussion. Prof. Jiaqi Liu of the 301 Hospital highly appraised the recent progress of XinAoMDT’s development. He emphasized the importance of clinical data and validation, and encouraged the effort to focus on clinical issues. Director Liansheng Ning of Tianjin Cancer Hospital expressed full support for the clinical trials at their site. All participants highly appreciated the exchange and discussion of different opinions and ideas, especially on clinical applications.
